Dinner time is a chance to try a new, healthy recipe as the family is gathered around the table, and once you have your family on board with your new, healthy eating lifestyle, you’ll be more likely to stick with it!
Zesty avocados give the turkey burger a unique flavor
Add a Mediterranean twist to the all-American burger with the tangy and zesty flavor of avocado hummus. This recipe makes 4 servings, and takes about 30 minutes to prepare.
- 4 whole-grain buns or bagels
- 2 cups shredded spinach
- 1 avocado
- 1 container hummus
- 1 lb. 93-percent lean ground turkey
Preheat grill or stove to medium-high.
Meanwhile, cut the bagels or rolls in halves.
Form the ground turkey into 4 burger-size patties, which should be about 1/2 inch thick.
Grill the burgers until thoroughly cooked (about 4-5 minutes each side until 165°F).
Once burgers are cooked, mix avocado with the hummus, and spread on the inside of each roll or bagel. Add the burger patty, spinach and the other half of the bread.
